Thaddaeus Haenke was the first naturalist in the Vice-royalty of the Río de la Plata. For 25 years he achieved transcendental progress in the study of the flora, mineralogy and chemistry in South America. He was a wise man, intelligent, hard-working and his studies contributed enormously to the good of the community.
